Millions of songs. Whenever you want and with just one click on your phone. Not so long ago, this seemed impossible. Nowadays, Spotify and other streaming services are the most common thing in the world. Interestingly, the revolutionary compact disc was only developed in 1982!
How valuable would it be if we could also follow this example in an area where it is desperately needed? After all, we face enormous challenges in our society. Climate change, aging population, poverty, food shortages. The technology sector can make a huge difference in this regard. How? I hear you think. Data has an essential role in all of this. Data is the new oil, is often said. And by making this data available to each other, we are all able to realize innovative solutions much more efficiently. However, this specific sector proved unable or unwilling to share data with each other for many many years. So we are still at the point of the CD. Yet, this CD is 40 years old.

Work smarter
Still, we increasingly hear different opinions. For example, a high need for improvement comes from the FME, Fedet, FHI, 2BA and above all from our customers. Some manufacturers and suppliers are at the forefront and recognize the importance of cooperation. They all want to be able to work smarter. As such, that requires data, a great amount of data. For instance, for panel building automation, but also for something that is easily accessible such as basic electrical products selection based on the right characteristics. Another challenge is the growing need for documentation. For instance, making CO2 and circularity data available.

Overall, we have had a dream for a long time. The dream of making all necessary data available for a high-quality design, efficient construction, a low cost-of-ownership for the end customer and of course a sustainable world. So basically, a streaming service – like Spotify – for the industry. In collaboration with the market, an alternative data source is available nowadays. The alternative data source collects data through effective and seamless collaboration through co-creation. The system ensures that the most reliable data is automatically determined, which is then provided as a suggestion for improvement to users. Essentially, this makes more and more missing data available to the market.
